Second week @ ISB - PreTerms

The second week was the week of the pre-terms. I took all three, i.e. Statistics, Quantitative Methods and Introductory Accounting. The alums advised us to only take Accounting, however I took all three just to be more comfortable in the class room. Altogether I was happy with what was covered. But, in hindsight there needs to be more synchrony between what was done during the pre-terms and what was taken up during Term 1.

As an example, the Introductory Accounting pre-term overlapped with 3 classes of Financial Acounting for Decision Making taught in Term 1. If we take into account that in all we have 10 classes of each subject. The overlap is a substantial chunk of the class. Another extreme was the statistics course. The pre-term statistics course was grossly inadequate to prepare us for the Statistical Methods for Decision Making taken up in term 1. We have brought both these to the attention of the Academic Service office. They will address this issue for future classes.

Another aspect of the first two weeks were the parties. Parties typically start at 10:00 and last till whenever. That's it about week two.

Key learning -
1. It is impossible to focus in class after late nights. Need to keep this in check.
2. The consequence of losing focus prove to be disastrous in terms of time and effort required to make up.
